The most effective way to achieve a perfect bevel is to cut the workpiece a little longer and grind it to the desired dimension. Miter grinding is easily done with an angle gauge:

To perform bevel grinding operations:

1. Loosen the bevel knob and adjust the angle to the desired point. Tighten the knob.

2. Slide the protractor into the slot and use it to hold the workpiece. Note - The angle gauge can be used in any direction in the kerf to get the correct ratio between the workpiece and the cutting edge.

3. Using light but firm pressure, slowly push the workpiece towards the downward rotating side of the turntable (Figure 9).

Figure 9. Oblique protractor.

Rotation

To perform angle grinding operations:

1. Loosen the table clamps.

2. Use a protractor to get the desired table angle and tighten the handles. Note - The backing plate can be set at an angle of -15° to 35° relative to the plane of the ground surface. If possible, grind at an open angle where there is sufficient clearance between the disc and the table. This will prevent the workpiece from being pulled between the sanding surface and the table.

3. Slide the protractor into the slot and use it to hold the workpiece.

4. With light but firm pressure, slowly push the workpiece towards the downward rotating side of the turntable (Figure 10).
